Critic Review:
With an outstanding starring performance from Benedict Cumberbatch illuminating its fact-based story, The Imitation Game serves as an eminently well-made entry in the "prestige biopic" genre. Solid historical drama about someone who changed the world but is unknown today. A moving tribute to an extraordinary man. Cumberbatch gives a performance that is, by turns, awkward, triumphant, and heartbreaking. Nearly every moment is infused with Importance. The Imitation Game both brings to life and pays tribute to Turing's history-altering and pioneering work that paved the way for modern computing. The Imitation Game walks a fine line in making the familiar effective, also reflecting A Beautiful Mind at points. This suspenseful drama reveals pieces of its puzzle steadily and slowly, until the final heartrending picture can be seen at last. Remarkably, it comes from a screenwriter who had never had a feature film produced and a director who had never made one in English. Many of the people reading this review are doing it on a computer. And all of them are reading it in English. It’s not much of stretch to say that you could credit both of those things to a man named Alan Turing. The Imitation Game is vibrant and lively, engaging you on three levels: The fascinating way the Nazis managed to outwit the rest of the world until Turing came along, how his giant contraption (essentially the world’s first computer) will work, and what will happen to him and everyone he knows when the truth about him is finally revealed. |

The Imitation Game is quite possibly the finest movie of the year. Pure brilliance to all involved--superbly acted, exceptional direction, and a screenwriting debut from Graham Moore showing prowess in writing well beyond his years. We find ourselves wondering: how is Alan Turing not a household name? Perhaps now, he finally will be. This is a fantastic movie with fantastic actors. They took the roles to a new level, making it seem as though they really were the character they were portraying, which I don't see very often nowadays. A must see for sure. worth watching, lot of respect for Alen sir.Everyone should see this movie, still dont have words to explain that we are using computer because of him. Incredible movie and story. The acting is superb by everyone in the cast. The movie is a thriller, sad commentary of what life was for this brilliant man. Walked away thinking of what a loss to our society and what could have been if it had not ended the way it did. Bravo. Loved the actors, loved the story, loved everything about this movie. Even if you don't like history or drama movies, you'll def like this one. It's a truly inspiring though sad story about an amazing hero. What a shame it is to know how cruel our own governments could be. I recommend you read more about Alan Turing, because you can learn a lot. 10/10 'The Imitation Game' cracks the code with a genuinely heartfelt performance by Benedict Cumberbatch and a subtle approach that honours it's fact based story. A must see movie and one of the best of all of 2014. Suspense will keep your attention for the entire 114 minutes. Amazing film . It might be my favorite ... This biopic of Alan Touring is a good find ... " Sometimes people than anyone can imagine is what makes things no one can imagine " Fantastic movie! Go see it. Loved it. Unbelievable true story of a man that one might be able to say, saved the world from tyranny. This movie rocks and was good from start to finish. |

Birdman is an ambitious technical showcase powered by a layered story and outstanding performances from Michael Keaton and Edward Norton. Inspiring direction and production. The real star of the film though is Antonio Sanchez's perpetual jazz score. A superb examination of the pursuit of validation Filmed like a play but choreographed like a dance, Birdman is cinematic ballet. Make no mistake, there is magic here, and Birdman is definitely a must-see film. Birdman is a complete blast from start to finish. Lots of films claim to be different. Birdman is. Birdman is everything you want movies to be: vital, challenging, intellectually alive, visually stunning, emotionally affecting. The thrilling cinematic joyride that, among other improbable feats, puts Michael Keaton, as Thomson, smack in the middle of the Oscar race for best actor. Birdman is a treat. But it's also more than that. It's a full-fledged wonder. This is a strange and beautiful and unique film, one of the best movies of the year. |

The movie starts out a little pretentiously, but after the first five minutes or so it becomes quite an extraordinary film. I just love this film its all about entretenimient , simply fun. A film shot in such an unconvientional way mixed with great performances by Keaton and Norton demands to be seen. Birdman shines a light on celebraties and their status and how important it is to be remembered. After seeing an amazing film like Birdman, one has the urge to reevaluate his own life. Only the most powerful, prestigious pictures can make that happen, and add Birdman to that list. Everything from the amazing acting to the superb cinematography is achieved with grace authenticity. Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu has made some pretty great films, and this definitely goes in his top three. Needless to say, Oscars will be a-comin' to this one. Brilliant all the way around and therefore a very rare American film.See this film and then see it again. Wonderful movie exploring a less visual poetic style! Every dialog is epic and intense. Characters are intriguing and unique in their ways. The constant drum background sets tone for intense dialogs and action sequences, music is wonderful in general. Excellent movie, has all the right ingredients. Great script, fantastic acting an masterful execution. A masterpiece. The filming, camera movement and placement and specially the direction was just outstanding. |

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time. The greatest movies, the ones that stick with us, are those that hold up a mirror to the human condition and reflect something back at us that we too often manage to overlook. Boyhood is one of those movies, and with it Linklater proves he is among the best practitioners of that art. As a film that dares to honor small moments and the life they add up to, Boyhood isn’t just a masterpiece. It’s a miracle. In its own quiet way, it’s a world of marvels. Boyhood, which started filming in 2002 and continued off and on for twelve years, is the greatest coming-of-age story ever put to film. It's an honorable and obviously artistically successful project. Boyhood is dizzying and dazzling, messy and mesmerizing, an ambitious and singular movie that grapples with towering questions about life itself - and finds profundity in how it not fails but refuses to provide all the answers. Boyhood is not just a great movie, it's a landmark achievement in film. Once in a great while I see a movie I know I’ll be listing as one of my all-time favorites for the rest of my days. So it is with this remarkable, unforgettable, elegant epic that is about one family — and millions of families. It’s a pinpoint-specific and yet universal story. |

Brilliant film everything you read or here about this film is true and so much more i am not even going to say anything about it just needed to give it at 10 and to say go and see it you will love it . Made me feel nostalgic. Made me laugh. Made me emotional. Made me happy that it felt authentic and not forced. Made me yearn for more; on screen and in my own life. Top notch movie. Even though he does succeed in doing so, Linklater's goal is not to impress, but rather tell a story about an average boy's life, and tell a story he sure does. Gorgeous Movie, everything is fantastic. The last 1/2 hour could of used some more time in the editing room, but otherwise, one of the best movies so far of 2014. Nearly every performance was fantastic, and everyone can relate to this film in one way or another. This movie is an outstanding phenomenon filmed over 12 years with dialogue, acting, and everything you can see is the boy growing up to age 6-18, it's fascinating. A magnificent film all together! Experimental and different, Boyhood director Richard Linklater knows how to make a documentary topic into an amazing film, not to mention the excellent screenplay and acting. The strength of Boyhood is how real it felt, every conversation, every scene and every moment. Ambitious, ground-breaking and truly something special. One of the most revolutionary movies of the cinema history. . As you watch and see how people change you progressively fall in a more deep enchantment. Boyhood is simply a masterpiece that you will remember for ever and that will become a classic cult movie as time goes by. 10/10 The perfect movie, that's all I can say. The story, the actors, the music, every scene... The feeling it makes me feel is awesome, immersive. Watch it, buy it... doesn't matter the person you are or your taste; you won't feel regretful. An impeccable movie you'll never regret watching twice. A real pearl inside the oyster of the world cinema. Undoubtedly, that is the best picture of the real flow of life ever made. |

Critic Review:
Dark, intelligent, and stylish to a fault, Gone Girl plays to director David Fincher's sick strengths while bringing the best out of stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. Suspense, social commentary, great performances and a seriously twisted outlook -- Gone Girl is one killer movie. The performances all round are of a high calibre, with Pike impressively handling the burden of some very difficult scenes. Gone Girl is a terrific movie, everything the book and its fans deserve. Grimly dark humor and spot-on production design buttress the captivating story and heighten the unnerving atmosphere...Gone Girl will leave you breathless and haunted. Surgically precise, grimly funny and entirely mesmerizing over the course of its swift 149-minute running time, this taut yet expansive psychological thriller represents an exceptional pairing of filmmaker and material. Twisty pulp entertainment at its highest level. Gone Girl is art and entertainment, a thriller and an issue, and an eerily assured audience picture. |

I don't usually give 10 out of 10 but this is pure movie making perfection! The direction is flawless, the acting is nuanced and amazing, and music is electric. Every frame of this movie is perfect. Every once in a while, a film is able to live up to the yearlong hype that precedes its release. Gone Girl goes above and beyond. It's enthralling and epic. Rosamund Pike's performance as Amy Elliott will live on for years. I guarantee it. In my opinion, Gone girl is the best film of the year so far. It is complex, it is creepy, it is satirical, it is some of Fincher's best work. Absolutely loved this film! Kept me on the edge with constant twists throughout the story. A little disturbing in some scenes but clever storyline which keeps the audience gripped, left the cinema feeling very satisfied. Gone Girl is a dark masterpiece from David Fincher, building suspense and tension for it's whole 150 minute runtime. It stays brilliantly true to the novel it was based on, even surpassing it in some areas. David Fincher does it once again. Everything in this movie is almost perfect, from Fincher's directing and the acting to the amazing soundtrack. Unpredictable and surprisingly thrilling. |

Critic Review: Boasting even more of the bromantic chemistry between its stars -- and even more of the goofy, good-natured humor that made its predecessor so much fun -- 22 Jump Street is the rare sequel that improves upon the original. Just think back to everything that was funny in "21 Jump Street." It's exactly the same. “22” merits a B grade. 22 Jump Street might not be quite as good as "21 Jump Street," but it's remarkably close, to the point where subsequent viewings could see it elevated above its predecessor. 22 Jump Street is hardly fresh, but the picture has enough energy to get by. This sequel to the hit action comedy 21 Jump Street is better all around: the pacing is more consistent, the sight gags more imaginative, the self-referential jokes sharper. This is a film that is creative enough... to mock its own lack of creativity. Full of inside jokes and fantastic performances, "22 Jump Street" is everything you want in a sequel and more. Perfectly satisfying... betting everything on Hill and Tatum being delightful to watch in their little platonic romcom and winning that bet. |
User Review:
22 Jump Street is exactly and actually better than the original 21 Jump Street. The characters are great, the story is good and the joke are pretty funny. The only way I can judge a comedy is by how hard it makes me laugh. And this film made me laugh hard. Everything works in 22 Jump Street, the chemistry of the leads, how the humor is presented, the sincere parts and how it doesn't take itself seriously. 22 Jump Street isn't just the best comedy of the year, it's also one of the best films of the year so far. I was expecting good. I wasn't expecting this good! I can't believe I'm saying it but I actually liked it better than the first. Way funnier than the first movie. This movie literally makes the first movie look like there aren't any jokes in it. It has the comedy all teens would enjoy. Probably the most hilarious comedy this year. If you enjoy Jonah Hill this is a must-see. The movie has a lot of action. It gives laughs beginning to end. I was pleasantly surprised with how funny this movie was. It was even more entertaining than 21 Jump Street, which I really enjoyed. A "fantastic" movie to go see with a few friends! Very well directed, acted, and produced. |

With slick choreography all too often interrupted by feeble attempts at plot, Step Up: All In would be more fun with all of its dialogue edited out. Step Up isn't high art, but it is the Fast & Furious of dance flicks. It's the rare movie that knows its limitations, but also understands how to use form to best convey its strengths ... Step Up All In is spectacle wrapped in story, but it's the juicy delicious centre which we all crave. The picture is high energy, feel-good, and sweet like bubblegum, and that's perfectly okay. Terrific dance sequences make up for subpar acting, plot. ...Step Up All In plays to its audience with familiar faces and new fantastic dance talent. pulling together countless complicated dance scenes in which the relationships between teams and characters come through more clearly than they could through dialogue. |
User Review:
People go to see Step Up movies not because of acting skills or special effects or story, but because of dancing skills and music. I've seen every single Step Up movie and all I can say, is that the 3rd installment of the franchise was the best one. The movie boasts a dynamic choreography and stellar music to go with it, some are timed just right and they are admittedly entertaining. The glossy choreograph and heart-thumping soundtracks present an enjoyable light flick, and to be fair it's what viewer would expect. Each dance is represented with unique costume. With simple yet effective effect, these dance sequences are the heights of the movie. Step Up: All In is the 5th installment in the forgettable Step Up franchise. It is so formulaic, cliched and very predictable that if you have seen the trailer you have seen it all. |

Like its predecessors, Expendables 3 offers a modicum of all-star thrills for old-school action thriller, but given all the talent assembled, it should have been a lot more fun. ...an almost hopelessly erratic entry in this seemingly unstoppable franchise. Yes, it's pretty much the same mixture as before, but slicker and more polished, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The Expendables 3 marks a sizeable improvement on the first two outings. The best thing about this self-mocking affair, which runs a leisurely two-plus hours and affords plenty of time for an insane body count, is Antonio Banderas' manic gusto in the role of a gabby mercenary. Antonio Banderas pretty much steals The Expendables 3. It is forgettable fluff, but well-delivered, and it suggests that they'll be able to keep making these as long as they can prop up the cast, and with the younger generation making a decent showing this time out, they may even be able to hand it off when the time comes. This has to be an intentional wink from Stallone and his contemporaries. They know their days are not only numbered as action stars, but probably should have ended long ago. |
User Review:
If you want non-stop action this is your movie. Very entertaining and always great seeing the great action heroes from the last few years! The best group of action heroes ever! The most fun ive had at the movies all summer! Tons of great action and actors.Sly and Mel Gibson are on top of their game.Lots of funny lines and great additions to the team! A Must See! You were perhaps expecting a deep story line with 500 plot twists and oscar worthy acting? Come on people! This entire series is a tribute to the brainless action filled 80's-90's genre! It's meant to be dumb fun, things go BOOM and BANG and cheesy one liners are tossed around. It's a good action flick. I was a little bit worried that Stallone would run this series into the ground with this sequel, but surprisingly the large cast is well managed and everybody gets something to do. The practical effects are refreshing and the action is well choreographed. The younger cast do a good job trying to keep pace with the older veterans of the series as well. |
